We were founded by a group of concerned parents and college admissions professionals that yearned for a resource to go beyond the rankings and help students find the right college for THEM. We focus on spotlighting a diversity of institutions and choice, as finding the perfect college is about fit, and that is something a student can choose for themselves with the right information.
Our mission
To enable students to find colleges and universities that appeal to and complement their unique personalities and aspirations. To constantly search for opportunities to offer services and information that are connected with a deeper purpose and have a long-term impact.
How we make a difference
Student Horizons is committed to empowering its partners and college-bound community audience by assisting to circulate programs, products, and services that inspire people to make a positive impact on their communities. We learn about programs, projects, and opportunities that are in development at colleges and universities, and find innovative ways to present this information to the college bound community. Our strength is that we can present the information in a way that they understand, pinpointing the points that are important to their needs, and of course be able to spark interest and excitement. College is fun and engaging, and we want student to be knowledgeable and prepared to be involved in and outside of the classroom.
Student Horizons’ primary mission is to help young adults find educational opportunities and the right fit for college. Since its establishment, Student Horizons has been committed to giving back. Whenever and wherever possible, Student Horizons' initiatives including our philanthropic endeavors, come from a corporate philosophy based on the principle of helping others helps us. We create value in the world, improve quality of life, and help others while conducting ethical, principled business and philanthropy.
Student Horizons is particularly focused on three areas of philanthropy:
- College access for disadvantaged populations throughout the United States
- Young adult cancer survivors college access
- Veterans' college access
This "double bottom line" approach has led us to found the Center for Student Opportunity an independent non-profit foundation dedicated to helping first generation college students and underserved communities approach the college search process with knowledge and access. Our unique relationships with colleges across the country allows us to bridge the gap between underserved students and programs at the institutions dedicated to providing education to students with diverse backgrounds.

Beyond the Books
The goal of Beyond the Books is to fill the need for comprehensive information for future and current college students to learn about the plethora of experiential learning opportunities available, discover opportunities that will enhance and define their educational experience, and find schools that offer the types of opportunities they’re looking for. The colleges we spotlight offer gold-standard experiential learning opportunities and have a commitment to make them accessible and vital to all students.
We are convinced that experiential learning is an area where many schools excel, and it is a clear differentiator that should be emphasized.
