  Student Horizons, Inc.

Student Horizons, Inc. was founded in 2002 by concerned parents and admissions professionals looking for new, more effective ways to connect the right students with the right schools. Increasingly, students and parents examine characteristics such as average class size, teaching methodology, campus life, innovative programs like study abroad and service learning, the surrounding community, etc. in order to select the most appropriate college. Student Horizons, Inc. believes that the carefully chosen college or university, tailored to the individual student, makes all the difference in preparing young people for both collegiate success and success in life. To help facilitate the college search process, Student Horizons, Inc. builds and maintains several websites and guidebooks.

   
 

Our flagship initiative, Colleges of Distinction (www.collegesofdistinction.com), profiles approximately 200 schools that provide the pillars of a strong and active undergraduate education through excellence in engaging students, providing outstanding teaching, offering vibrant communities, and producing successful outcomes.

Student Horizons, Inc.'s newest initiative, Beyond the Books (www.beyondthebooks.org), promotes experiential learning opportunities in the United States. Visitors will be able to search a national database of service-learning programs, entrepreneurial training, internships, study abroad opportunities, leadership programs, and living-learning communities.

Our mission at Student Horizons, Inc. is to enable students to find colleges and universities that appeal to and complement their unique personalities and aspirations, and to constantly search for opportunities to offer services and information that will enhance the lives of those being served as well as the greater community.

Our close involvement with many diverse colleges and universities throughout the United States places us in a unique position to help colleges share information. We are able to learn about collegiate programs, projects, and opportunities, and find innovative ways to present that information not only to other colleges, but to the college bound community as well.

We aim to build a strong reputation and respect within the higher-education landscape as an innovative, useful, and trustworthy organization that they prefer to work with.
